Basalt stone:

Basalt's main ingredient is silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide, iron oxide, calcium oxide, magnesium oxide (and a small amount of potassium oxide and sodium oxide), in which silica content up to about 45 to 50%.

Basalt is the best materials of stone on roads repairing, railways, airport runways, with strong compression, low crushing value, good corrosion resistance, adhesive to asphalt. Colored stone is wear-resisting, less draft, poor conductivity, strong compression, low crushing value, corrosion resistance, adhesion of asphalt, it is internationally recognized as the best foundation for developing railway and road transportation.

Basalt is used in construction (eg. as building blocks or in the groundwork), making cobblestones (from columnar basalt) and in making statues. Heating and extruding basalt yields stone wool, an excellent thermal insulator.
